CCBR-Beijing, China
Center for Clinical and Basic Research (CCBR) is a private research institute. In the beginning of CCBR the primarily research was related to women's menopause and the diseases that are linked to this. CCBR is still researching in women’s menopause but as the time has gone by other therapeutic areas have been added, like; osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, dyslipimidia, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, pain, respiratory diseases and many others.
All research projects conducted at CCBR is approved by competent authorities such as the local Ethics Committee, the Medicine Authority and the Data Protection Agency. CCBR is well known all over the - especially for the research in osteoporosis.
Much of CCBR's projects are based on people voluntarily sign up as participants. This is crucial in CCBR's value to all project participants a pleasant and positive experience when they are visiting a CCBR clinic.
The philosophy at CCBR is:
“Help yourself - but primarily help others!”
As a participant, in a research project, you get some benefits like a full medical examination. On the other hand, is the participant also a "victim", because they sacrifice their spare time to help answer some medical questions - answers that hopefully will get other people to benefit in the future.
Medical examinations at CCBR consist of:
- Measurement of bone density
- Radiographs of the spine
- Mammography
- Gynaecological examination with ultrasound and smears
- Measurement of heart activity (ECG)
- Measurement of health parameters in blood and urine samples
- Medical Interview and survey
- Blood Pressure Measurements
- Measurement of height and weight
Research projects are a very large puzzle, where each participant can be compared to a piece - but a very important piece, as the most correct answer depends on the individual's participation.
